Nonsmooth Dynamical Systems: Analysis, Control and Optimization

Résumé

For the modeling of a large class of physical phenomena, certain electrical and mechanical devices, and even for some algorithms, the framework of nonsmooth systems provides a class of mathematical models that accurately describe the underlying discontinuities in the dynamics. Such models have captured the interest of research community for analysis related questions, development of numerical solvers, synthesis of control laws, and their relevance in studying optimization algorithms involving nonsmooth functions. With this motivation, the consortium of European Network for Nonsmooth Dynamics (ENNSD) has been established to promote research, collaboration, and dissemination of results on these topics. To promote such objectives, in this special issue, we solicit papers with original contributions with a focus on nonsmooth systems and analysis, which would be of wide interest to researchers working in the area of systems and control and the readership of this journal. This may include modeling and well-posedness results, connections between nonsmooth optimization and dynamical systems, stability analysis, set-valued control synthesis, optimization-based control, development of numerical solvers, analyzing interconnections, and so on. The participants of the 9th annual symposium of ENNSD as recently organized by the Guest Editors in Toulouse from 20th to 22nd September, 2022 are warmly invited to submit manuscripts with original results, or review articles, which are closely related to the presentations during the symposium. The submitted manuscripts must contain original results and will undergo a conventional review process as in NAHS, which will be overseen by one of the guest editors.
